FCC goes to Pistahan!

The Filipino Community Center was in full force at the Pistahan on August 14-15 in Downtown, San Francisco. Singing chants and carrying banners, FCC’s staff and its members participated on the Saturday morning march, which celebrated the culture and solidarity of Filipinos in San Francisco and within the Bay Area. Four of them even wore “balikbayan” boxes with messages like “Saving our Youth,” “Caring for Filipino Caregivers,” “Supporting Workers’ Rights,” and “Supporting Immigrant Rights.” These messages sum up the advocacies that FCC promotes and fights for.

FCC also shared a booth with the Bayanihan Community Center and San Francisco State University’s League of Filipino Students (LFS). All three organizations had informational brochures that outline their programs and services to the community. Overall, the event was a successful one in that FCC was able to reach out to the wider Filipino community.
