On July 7, 2010 Prof. Bobby Tuazon of the Center for People Empowerment in Governance took a break from his visit with his relatives to grace Filipino Community Center’s monthly Talakayan.
For three weeks now, Filipino Community Center (FCC) has been preparing a survey that that staff can use to learn the direct effects of the budget cuts on the lives of Filipino youths in the Excelsior district.
The Hotel Fairness Initiative was a measure proposed by the office of the District 11 Supervisor John Avalos. In order to get the measure onto the city ballot for voting in November, John Avalos’ office and co-sponsoring organizations (including FCC) had to collect at least 7,000 signatures from San Francisco’s registered voters.

August 3, 2010 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Pilipino Bayanihan Resource Center, at 2121 Junipero Serra Blvd, Daly City, CA. Attorneys will be present to answer legal questions. Click for more information!
On Tuesday, April 27, FCC’s Kabataan found out that DCYF halted funding for their youth program. A Youth Hearing was scheduled for the following Wednesday, Kabtaan prepared a few speeches (read more for these) and gathered 350 signatures to save their program.

On behalf of FCC’s Kabataan in Balboa High School, we are in support of the March 4th state wide protest against budget cuts to education. We as students are and will be greatly affected by the budget cuts imposed on schools in the state of California.
