Since January of this year, Filipino caregivers throughout the Bay Area have gathered to participate in the Caregiver Research Project (or CARE Project). The CARE Project is a community-based participatory research initiative that looks into the lives and work conditions of Filipino caregivers. In addition to research development, CARE Project participants also gained advocacy, leadership and organizing skills so they may have to tools to address the pressing issues that all Filipino migrant workers face.

During the year long process of research and training’s, the CARE Project participants decided to develop their own grassroots worker organization. We are proud to celebrate the launching of MIGRANTE Nor Cal a chapter of MIGRANTE INTERNATIONAL, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) organization that fights for the rights and welfare of Filipino migrant workers abroad.
